Writing Center Resource - The Element of Design

While employed at Lewis University's Writing Center, I crafted an instructional document regarding the elements of design to assist graphic design novices for the Writing Center's Online Writing Lab (OWL). The document covers topics such as typography, space, scale, line, direction etc. in immense detail and includes in depth visual examples. Currently, OWL lists The Elements of Design document as a "Writing Design" resource. I deployed research and included takeaways from Publication Design, Writing Digital Media, and Website Design lectures as the basis for the instructional document. Work as a Writing Center tutor accompanied this document, an experience which taught me the value of discussing ideas, analyzing a document's overall organization and effectiveness, and establishing a hierarchy of priorities when posed with time-limited tutor appointments.
